Description

SVG vortex grit removal system is a specialized machine designed to separate grit (solid) from liquid. This system is an efficient solution for grit separation in various wastewater treatment applications.

The SVG system comprises several key components:

  • Drive Head: Contains the drive, gears, and reducers.
  • Tubular Shaft: Connected to a puddle, with its length varying based on the tank size.
  • Paddle: Specially shaped to generate a vortex effect, aiding in the settlement of grit. The size of the paddle is designed to match the tank dimensions.

The system operates within a tank divided into three parts:

  1. Upper Cylindrical Part: Connected to the inlet and outlet channels. Here, the paddle rotates, driven by the drive head, creating a vortex effect that facilitates grit settlement.
  2. Conical Middle Part: Guides the settled grit down to the lower section.
  3. Lower Cylindrical Part: Where the accumulated grit is collected for removal.

For tanks with diameters up to 3 meters, stainless steel construction is used, while larger tanks are typically made of concrete.

Grit removal from the bottom of the tank can be achieved through two main methods:

  • Traditional Air Lift: Requires an external blower.
  • Grit Pump: Can operate from above the drive head or underwater, outside the tank, depending on the plant layout.

The SVG vortex grit separator is often paired with a grit classifier (SGC) to separate grit from the water-grit mixture, or with a grit washer and classifier (SWG) for applications requiring organic matter removal as well.

The system is commonly manufactured in stainless steel AISI 304 or 316, offering durability and corrosion resistance.

Key advantages of the SVG system include:

  • High efficiency in treating large flow rates.
  • Compact footprint compared to other solutions.
  • Minimal and straightforward maintenance requirements.
  • Overall cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.

In certain applications, the SVG vortex grit separator can also be equipped with a grease removal system.

Additionally, the unit can be supplied with a control panel upon request, available in either electromechanical or PLC-controlled formats, to suit various operational needs.
